This post from MiniTool MovieMaker mainly talks about 7 HD video editors and shares some other tips about HD videos.

Part 1: What Is HD Video

Before learning about the 7 HD video editors, first let’s understand what HD video is.

HD video refers to high-definition videos, and this type of video has higher resolution and quality than standard-definition (SD). SD video includes the video of resolution at or below 480p.

There’s no standardized meaning for high-definition. Generally speaking, HD video includes video of resolution at or above 720p. Here’re common high-definition video modes.

720p

720p, also called HD Ready, is the standard high-definition and the display resolution is 1,280 x 720 pixels.

1080i

1080i, also known as Full HD, has a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels. Commonly used in HD videos and 1080i television.

1080p

1080p, also known as Full HD, is a ubiquitous display resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, and it’s the most widely used resolution.

1440p

1440p (also known as Quad HD) is a display resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels, double of resolution of 720p. It’s widely used in smartphone displays and for computer and console gaming.

Those are common HD video display resolutions. Sometimes, we also heard of UHD video. What does UHD mean? What’re the differences between them?

HD vs UHD

UHD refers to Ultra high-definition and has a higher resolution than HD. We know that the higher the resolution of the video, the more pixels, the better the quality, and the larger the file.

Therefore, Ultra HD video is visually clearer and larger in size than HD video. 2160p (4K UHD, 3,840 x 2,160 pixels) and 4320p (8K UHD, 7,680 x 4,320 pixels) are included in the family of UHD video display resolutions.

4k video resolution in 3,840 x 2,160 pixels is used for television and monitors. The other standard resolution of 4K video is 4,096 x 2,160 pixels, used in the film and video production industry.
